Mine did the same thing when one of my coil packs went down. Turned out to be the one that is commonly affected by the water leaking theough the seam in the middle of the scuttle pannel. Which is the one at the gearbox end. Have they found anything on it yet?

I don't think renault sell them anymore. I had to buy mine second hand from someone on here. Not many people willing to part with them though so anyone selling them will probably want a fair bit.

I've heard of this a few times. Like forza said it's just the linkage has poped off the ball on top of the gearbox. You may get away with just removing the air box though.
