If you did it in the sun there will be greasy smears from were the glass is hot, use a microfiber just after you have cleaned it will help too.

When you pull the leaver to fold it down, to let people in or out, you can slide it back and forth to the position you want it, then fold the chair back up and it will lock into place.

Could have been moisture on the clutch plates, if its only done it once, IMO, I wouldnt worry massive amounts. It has probably burnt off by now, hence why you cant get it to slip again! Hope this helps.
