My car has failed it's MOT on a broken spring, the standard replacement springs seem hard to find, I want to replace them as a pair so I don't mess with the handling, Renault are charging £91 just for a single spring!
It seems the cheapest option is to buy a set of lowering springs and get someone to fit them, the lowering springs I'm considering lower the car by 25mm, would this cause my 17inch alloys to possibly rub and fail the MOT re-test?

H&R springs are fine, I am guessing they are what your considering? I have them on mine and caused no issues with the standard 17's when they were on the car. So you will be fine with a -25mm spring. I changed mine for the same reason, one front spring was broken and it was cheaper to just fit the H&R kit then to buy genuine new items.
