I think it's a different engine code for the Twingo buddy, K4M 854 seems to ring a bell. I think the cam profiling is different in this lump.

it's the same engine, the only difference was that the positioning of the airbox routing plus a few other small things which you can easily get around

Ok thanks. Ideally want a straight swap. Will have a hunt for the exact one.

seems like an expensive way to change your dephaser mate and fix an oil leak? ... the new engine won't come with a dephaser, it will come as a bare block. no auxiliaries or anything

what's wrong with that? the engine sounds fine, it just appears that you've got a fuelling / ignition faut or an a timing issue which will no doubt relate to a timing fault....

bit early to be going wild with an engine transplant don't you think? seems like you've got a flat tyre so bought a new car sort of scenario!

Top end sounds awful?

Got louder and louder trying to get it home and the car cut out. Do you really think that sounds fine?

acceptable? no.

broken? no. it sounds like the timing has slipped, diagnostics machine on it and check your long term fuel trim. the further away from 0 it is ; the more likely you've dropped a cog. i can also hear your dephaser running wild, both add up to make it sound like a tractor.

your engine is shaking like a battered housewife, this is usually an indication of a dynamic missfire which from what i can see and hear, clearly relates to slipped timing as it's going pretty harshly but we seem to be going in circles with advice so this maybe the last time i say the same thing over and over again ;)

Ok ta.

It sounds just like my old car that tore the top end apart, hence the thought of just chucking another lump in it.

I will change the dephaser, belt and waterpump when i fit the new injectors

hey bjorn, i think you've placed this in the wrong post lol. but to answer your question, uhm with a turbo or supercharger you will get 180 bhp maximum ... and the cost will be ridiculous. you will require a turbo manifold custom made, a turbocharger, uprated map sensor, custom intake distributor to replace the intake manifold, custom exhaust and downpipe, aftermarket engine management and lots of dyno time to tune the map to make it driveable on the road. you'd be looking at the best part of 3-4 thousand pounds uk ££.

i cannot inform you of any specialists like this in south africa, however just about any motorsport garage will be able to do this sort of work without breaking a sweat. for power to dollar so to speak, you'll be best to put a clio 182 or megane 225/230 into your car. you'll be spending the same sort of money, and once installed .. you can then remap the car from 230 bhp and crank the boost up to around 270 bhp safely. this means you'll have a limited slip differential as standard, makes sense don't it?

The biggest difference between the K4M-856 of the Twingo RS and the K4M-862 of the Clio GT is, that the Clio engine has a lower compression ratio (9.8 like the normal K4M) and the Twingo engine has a compression ratio of 11. Normally you can easy distinguish the engines, the flange between catalyst and exhaust pipe is a two-hole one for the twingo, but a 3-hole one for the Clio.

So if you plan a turbo conversion the Clio K4M is the better base...;)

Morning, I have a Twingo RS and cant find an engine in South Africa. I believe the Renault Clio 3 GT 1.6 130 K4M 862 engine will work n the Twingo but with some changes? What are those changes?
