Mismatched wheels

Would it be possible to run the standard 17" cup alloys on the rear and for instance fit 16" 182 alloys on the front with larger profile tyres to make up the lost diameter? It would only be for one day but was toying with the idea for use on a trackday so i still have 4 matching tyres on my cup wheels. Is this safe?

I believe the rolling radius would be different front to back, so long as the smaller is on the front I can't see the issue with it if it were for 1 day. I wouldn't personally want to be doing it for long periods of time though!
