Agreed - this = epic!!

With white vans or hire cars being the fastest things on the roads, maybe a van conversion and have it sprayed white would be a good plan

Oh okay. I was wondering if you were trying to make it as a van so you'd pay the taxes of light freight vehicle (so you pay less taxes).
Wouldn't be the first porsche or megane RS registered as a light freight vehicle.

Last week, when I finally got round to fitting the Pure Motorsport bump steer compensation kit, I noticed that the left hand ARB drop link was looking a bit worse for wear

Thats the second one that I've bent, so I had a look into something a bit stronger. The problem being theres a large variation in angle over the range of the steering. Hopefully these survive as they run out of travel just before full lock, so I have slight doubts but theres some sideways spring in the ARB which allows some give. I've set the links longer than the originals, to take account of the drop in ride height.

Hi!!
Can you do a bill of materials and a drawing of the drop links so everyone can make them? :)

Heres what I used
Two of these Turnbuckles:-
https://www.mcgillmotorsport.com/m10-turnbuckle-link-adjustment-300mm-340mm-linkage-10mm-553/

Two of these Left hand threaded bearings:-
https://www.mcgillmotorsport.com/m1...ale-xmlm10-ultra-high-performance-rod-end-92/

Two of these Right hand threaded bearings:-
https://www.mcgillmotorsport.com/m1...ale-xmrm10-ultra-high-performance-rod-end-93/

One pack of Left hand threaded lock nuts:-
https://www.mcgillmotorsport.com/m10-x-1-5mm-left-hand-threaded-half-nuts-pack-of-10-490/

One pack of Right hand threaded locknuts:-
https://www.mcgillmotorsport.com/m10-x-1-5mm-right-hand-threaded-half-nuts-pack-of-10-491/

Whilst mine are still looking ok with no sign of the locknuts coming loose from the bearing being forced too far by the steering, it may be worth while going up to M12 bearings etc above and using high misalignment reducers to use 10mm bolts in 12mm bearings. This would allow a greater angle for the bearings so they wouldnt run out of travel.
https://www.mcgillmotorsport.com/m12-to-m10-rod-end-misalignment-reducers-pair-458/

One pack of eight Misalignment spacers:-
https://www.mcgillmotorsport.com/m10-rod-end-misalignment-spacers-10mm-pack-of-8-396/

Then, four 8.8 grade M10 bolts with a plain section long enough to support the bearing and spacers and go into the roll bar or damper bracket. Yes you could use M10 setscrews which are threaded all the way but they won't be as strong against shear forces. Nylocs and washers. I needed an extra couple of washers on the inside of the damper brackets to move the turnbuckle away from the bottom of the damper on full lock.

Neil please just make a van :)

gordini wagon what do you think? get neil into the shed to fabricate some van doors to replace the boot lid! put his modified mig welder to good use :D

Just read this whole thread.. spent an hour on it!

Not sure if you'll remember me or not Neil but I was the one at the Aviemore meet with all the clios, in the silver 172.

Love the twingo now, I haven't seen it going about Elgin for a while!

Did you ever get more hub caps made up for the 2118s? I have a set on my car and caps would really finish them off!

Liam.

Was a good afternoon out, with just the one RS200 and my RS133. However a good turn out for the 172/182's :)

Only a couple of pics from me.

The start of the meet didn't go quite to plan as Mackenzies seemed to have borrowed a couple of village idiots so none of us fancied leaving the cars unattended whilst getting some food. Convoy up to the Cairngorm ski area and then back down to town for a pizza.

Home the long way, tailing one of the 182's through Tomintoul and up over the Lecht before heading our seperate ways. 3rd and 4th haven't had a work out like that for a while :)
Welcome Liam. One of these ^^^ ;) Im afraid I'd probably struggle to put a name to all the faces that I've met at meets

The car still knocks about Elgin and I waved to a silver 172 recently but that must not have been you.

I was getting prices of £25 each for getting some caps 3d printed, so decided not to bother. Have you seen Dr Jekyll's thread over on CS

Set aside a good evening and read/watch Anthony's thread. Yotah1 Nurburgring special

I had the silver ph 2 172.

Had a red R26 meg for a few months but decided to go back to the clio so got myself a cup

I only signed up to read your thread really as mike had mentioned you were running bodies.

Am I right in saying that the power figure ktec gave you was alot higher than it actually was? And now with the bodies it's around 160 bhp @RSTuning?

I'll have a look at the Dr's thread and see if I can sort something out, Cheers!

Well, that would be one way to look at it. At the rolling road meet on SteC's rollers, it showed 165 corrected, which is 9 lower and only a few days later with nothing changed other than a couple of tanks of optimax being used. Site's rollers showed within 1-2hp difference for a Clio which was on RSt a week before, so draw your own conclusion. Going from 165 down to 160 is fine by me, as the mid range was massively better.

Is your 172 over Elgin much?

Aye i know what you mean if your not bothered about figures then it's fine. Just the usual from Ktec I think though.

Not really, I take it to work the odd day but even then it's a case of going to work and heading straight back to inverness.

Would be good to get a wee meet at some point this month, there's some good roads on the outskirts of Elgin!

Could do something on the 23rd or 24th?

Where about do you live if you don't mind me asking? You say it's a 3 mile walk, is it out by that chicken farm way?
