Suspension Lower Balljoint Rubbers

Just had a look at all the paperwork we hold for Twinky...lower suspension arms replaced at 24.5k miles...not sure if the replacement parts fitted are the updated ones, or a direct replacement...I'll have to have a closer look when I'm next underneath the car!

The newer ones have "- -A" cast into them, where the part number is. First edition ones have - - -

i can confirm you that these ball joints will NOT eliminate faulty design of the control arms and wheel bearing housing.
You see that there is mechanical influence and heat influnce (from the brake discs), so this is IMHO the reason why the rubbers and so the ball joints fail...

Which is why they sell small metal shields for them in the R1/R2 Catalogue
But still, shoddy oversight from Renault.

the mechanical is more problematic than the heat probleme

the shield actually increase mechanical probleme (less space) , but solve heat probleme

still looking for a balljoint remplacement
seem's nobody sell it anymore

So.. had the update item "- -A" arms fitted back in August. Car has since done about 14k km or under 9k miles and I have been told there is already play in the balljoints. Ridiculous...

Did you replace the whole part or just the joint when you replaced them on the wind, I checked mine before I brought the car but given the roads near me I don't hold much hope

The whole lower arms were replaced.

in most cases it is enought to replace the joint.
The rest of the arms is good for 100k miles ;-)

I replaced them with universal ball joint rubber and they are still ok,they look like new!
The difference is that the rubber has 1 'curve' instead of 2,or how do you say.
They cost me around €20.
