This is my second RS - had a 182 before. I've also currently got an '08 K9K diesel Megane that's still going well @ 140K :p

Upto now since I got her last week she's had:

Brake fluid change
Coolant change
Thermostat
Waterpump
Timing belt
Dephaser pulley
Aux belt and tensioner
Oil and filter
Gear oil change
Clutch fluid change
Rear discs and pads (inc rear wheel bearings)

First jobs on the Silverstone were a gear oil change, engine service and timing belt. I was glad I swapped the belt, timing was miles out and the aux belt was waffer thin :!:

All Renault bits so no surprises down the line hopefully.

A tip I have found for removing the air box is remove the 2x 13mm bolts that hold the air box bracket and flick the CAF pipe clips out the bottom of the airbox with a long screwdriver.

Nice and dry with no trace of any oil leaks.

Another tip i've done in the past is do the water pump before fitting the dephaser pulley. Gives a bit more room.

Ended up with a faulty thermostat that I was assured was OEM but was'nt so ended up getting one from Renault.

When I first got the car, temps were low at around 75ish celsius before the new stat, now with a new stat she sits at 89-90c all the time. These cars dont start adjusting the fuel mixture until warm so correct temp is very important.

A new stat starts opening at 89c and is fully open at 99c.

I refitted the air box bung (cooler air hopefully) and popped in a BMC panel filter.

The car now goes like a rocket (was a bit gutless before the belt change tbh) and drives tight as a drum - my favourite RS so far i think, so much charm and character.

Will update when I do more little jobs.

Fancy doing mine lol

Could do but don't have a workshop I can use regularly now. I'm a mechanic by trade (hence the snap-on tools), went to work offshore in 2009 and havn't touched a customers car since then - I do miss it sometimes.

More surgery today - decided to change the clutch fluid.

Clutch bleed is down near the yellow torch.

Clutch feels great now. The fluid was filthy so well worth doing. Wouldnt reccomend doing the job if youre not mechanically minded - the slave cylinder bleed is in a fiddly place under the wiring loom - its only plastic and if you break it youll have to remove the gearbox to replace it. Also the spring clip is quite fiddley. Other than that not too bad!

Next I wanted to remove and dress the rear discs and grease the calipers, took the wheel off and found a stripped wheel bolt

The car had 4 new tyres last year so im guessing the lad refitting the wheels wazzed the bolts up too tight and stripped one, didnt say anything and let the car go out with only 3 bolts properly securing the wheel :?:

Im out buying new discs, pads, wheel bearings. I always go Pagid on the discs - theyre zinc plated so keep their finish for ages. Better than the Brembos everyone loves IMO.

Turning into a money pit :p To be continued....

Got the brakes fitted last night.

Replaced the stripped wheel bolt and because the new discs incorperate the wheel bolt threads - everything is now back to normal.

Went to Silverstone for the 6 hour race today, really good day. Had the camera out so took some pics of the Twingo on the way home. Had such a great day with the car on the drive to and from the circuit.

I think we're at a point where I feel the car is up to date maintenance wise so can start to enjoy it and use it every day without OCD telling me theres another little job that needs doing.
