A recommendation for Audi: My A5 fits your mate's criteria. Almost Mondeo-sized. Fuel 50mpg round town thanks to turbo diesel and start-stop function. V quick through the gears with turbo on-song. 0-60 around 8 seconds. If that's not enough, he could spend an extra 20 grand and go...

Mine was a 10 plate with 19k when I traded it. A5 is a 63 just coming up to 2k in the next week or so. :P

Yes it's the new 2.0 177PS motor. According to Audi's publicity, all their current TDI engines have common rail and piezo injectors. The salesman said the 177PS was new for 2013. No, no mods planned. Perfectly happy with it as is. It's FWD. LOL at "Dundee Girl" - they must be the Scottish...

No chance! Obsolete models will lose money AT LEAST as quickly as current models. Just done a deal today for my full-fat 133 with cup chassis. 10 plate with 19k miles. Got £5,500 for it as a trade-in against an Audi A5, and thought I'd done bl**dy well at that.
