just would like to know your thoughts on the oil itself ? (elf and total are the same company, therefore basically any total racing fluid is going to be the same stuff repackaged as elf). a little insider tip is that once your engine hits around 60k miles, your main bearings and whatnot will have lost X amount of clearance. the best thing you can do for a high mileage engine is use racing fluid, which is much the same as the oil you get for high mileage engines in terms of the larger molecules which help to take up the excess clearance whilst maintaining the same viscosity as before and racing fluid is more freely available than high mileage oils.
i've ordered some elf hxt racing oil 5w30. i always change my oil every 8-10k miles on fully synth oil so going to racing oil shouldn't be so much of an overkill, especially when i plan a few trackdays this year.
what's your thoughts on racing oil guys, any previous experience using them?
