Different lenses for different shots sounds obvious but it's true

I've used in the past the following:

70-200mm
50mm
24-70mm

Along with flashes and tripods.

For shows use a wide angle lense I use a 10-20mm that way I can be very close and still get all the car in and not get too much distortion. Tho using a decent telephoto gets good detailed shots without having to be in top of it. Always carry a flash and plenty of batteries.

on a crop sensor dslr, 10-20mm can look good with the right light or hdr/tone mapped.

However it's more about how you frame/compose that makes a good shot as a lens and camera can only capture what you point it at

True I'm running at 1.6x

Don't use HDR too much of a gimmick and 99% of times it's over done.
