Hello people. My name is George and I am from Greece.Just recently I bought a Renault twingo mk1 with c3G engine. New to Renault, I am trying to find info on this nice car. So, glad I joined your fellowship. Excuse my typo's and some spelling errors, you see English is not my native language...

Welcome, your English is good. Get some pictures of your car up when you get a chance. Not many mk1 owners on here

Better late than ever... here are some pics...

The car is in very good shape for it's age, it has 140000 km's on the clock, it runs on the C3G engine, it is 1250cc and it's power is 55bhp. Till 60-70 miles it is pokey, mostly due to light weight, it is just under 900 kg, but beyond that speed the lack of displacement is obvious. It is really economical, it is equipped with powered windows and mirrors, central locking but no power steering. Although this is not a problem, the wheel is really light, even when parking. Only downfall is an ancient immobilizer Piranha from Orvil, which the previous owner installed and although there is the key socket on the dash as you can see in the pics, I haven't the key for it, so it is of no use for me. I am going to uninstall it and install a Cat1 alarm to secure it, since such mini cars are target for thieves here in Greece. Further that it had some electrical glitches which I repaired, a couple of blown fuses mostly, and the headunit which when turned off it lost it's settings. It was a wirring fault, I fixed it. It only needs to repair the cabin illumination, although the bulb is fine and no blown fuses, it doesn't light up, although the door switches work as they should. Perhaps a wirring fault, or a fault in the printed circuit of the light apperture. I have to have a look at the printed circuit, it is combined with the remote lock receiver.

It`s a lovely looking car in great condition! A real credit to you! It`s also nice to see that people are looking after the Twingo 1`s! Keeping the older cars going! Not always about shiny brand new just out of the showroom cars. Nice one mate!

Thank you very much for your nice words. I love this little babe. I bought it half with my brother, he wanted a small car for downtown, but it is good for short motorway distances too. I am a lover of Fords for several years now, I own a Sierra mkII and an Escort mk5 with RS turbo engine, but I loved the Twingo from the first momment I turned it's key! I really love cars, I have advanced mech and electric knowledge and not having problems getting my hands dirty. I will do my best to keep it in good condition. I allready bought a Haynes manual, although it is in French, I could not find an English version, but it is something which comes handy when you want to spend time on car.

Know what you mean about falling in love with the Twingo! I had a phase 1 Clio 172, changed it for a Civic Type R but went back to Renaultsport with a phase 2 Clio 172. Had her for eight years. Was thinking of changing and then took Clio in to have a job done and they had a Twingo RS in showroom. I was like a kid in a sweet shop and as soon as I sat in it, that was it! Had to have one! I love cars! but as I say, it`s great to see people like yourself keeping a car like the Twingo 1 going. Maximum respect to you mate!
