car passed MOT at Halfords, but advisories state nearside and offside Anti-roll bar linkage worn but not seriously weakened. Then they quoted £190.00 to change them. Are they really that expensive or is it a 4 hour job? Anyone done a "how to".

Depends what they are looking at changing, the bushes would 40 minutes labour a side (done yourself) and the parts are dirt cheap can maybe uprate the parts while your doing it too with some power flex parts.
