Hi, i finally registered here

I bought my car here in Hungary 4 months ago, 2009/04, standard RS CUP, it was damaged, the previous owner fixed it up, so it has a Gordini interior electronics, with cruise control, RS Monitor, Bluetooth.

Even before the test drive, when i first got into the car, i knew it was perfect for me. Good sporty seats. When i closed the door, i felt the stiff chassis. 3 year old car, the test drive of course went fine. The wheels have a few bumps and bruises, but not that serious.
The only thing that i was afraid of, was the stiff ride with the CUP chassis, but seriously, it's not that bad. It's a sporty/Track car, what do you expect?

So I bought it back in April.
Since than i did 2 track days, and it was just the best thing ever. (Twice on the Hungaroring (F1 Baby;) , and one time in a close small hungarian track, called Euroring. Like it was built for a Twingo RS)
Unfortunatly on the 2nd day, it broke down.
At first, i thought it was my fault, way to agressive downshifting, and the gearbox had gave up on me. It has great brakes, and no fade, but the engine break can really help a lot on hard breaking zones.
As i mentioned before, the car was damaged slightly, and it looks like it wasn't properly fixed. They didn't change one component, they just welded it, and after a few months, it gave up on an upshift. I don't know the proper english word for it, but the Gearbox supporting mount. Well the metal thing, which holds the gearbox mount, or something like that.
First i was devastated, cos a new gearbox would cost me a fortune, but fortunatly it was fixed for around 200pounds.
I removed the rear seats, and boy, did it make a difference. Sounds much better (inside), and it's a little lighter too.
You can feel it a little in hard breaking, specially with my new front breaks. Anyway, i LOVE it, and i'll keep it for a long long time, that's for sure.

Just one question:
My water temp is constantly at 90, so that's normal, even on track. But the oil could reach 130 on the highway, when i'm doing 140kph, and it's sitting at 4400RPM for 90 minutes.
Is it normal? It's around 100-115 when i'm driving it on normal roads 80-120kph, without cruise control.

Well, I hope some of my enthusiasm came through, and you enjoyed the post.
And a few pics for last:

The previous owner sent me a few pics of the damaged car, and the donor Gordini.
These pictures are only links, some of them are really not pretty :(

Be aware, the Gordini is in PRETTY BAD shape, the owner probably died in this car :(.

almost forgot, my friend did a 3 min video on the Euroring track day, if you want to watch.
Windows down, and shaky hands, but some of the feeling comes through i think
i always smile when i watch it. even thogh it was the last two laps, cos i broke down (as i mentioned before)

the front pressure was a little high, so i couldn't play with the back if the tyres were up to tempeture, just got understeer when playing with the brakes mid corner.

Welcome.

I remember seeing the pictures of the poor Dini. Fortunately the Gordini came with head height curtain airbags (which are normaly a cost option - currently £250) as well as side impact bags in the seats as standard. It looks like the passenger seat had tipped backwards, so it may not have intruded into the drivers side too badly. Being as the roof is still on, I presume there wasn't a passenger who would have undoubtebly been trapped and it's likely the driver wasn't trapped either... I doubt they walked away, but theres a reasonable chance for the driver.

They do look good in red, with the Shadow Graphics on the side

welcome

wow i thought th ered car was bad shape. yep that gordini is worse.

Welcome! I didn't look at the 'broken' pics I see too many of them in my job
