Not having much luck... A woman drove into the back of me just over a year ago, which got all sorted through insurance and today a Toyota Yaris driver has just reversed into the side of me. I was on the main road behind a bus which had stopped and when the bus pulled away, he just reversed out of his drive into the side of me.

I've got his phone number - he has offered cash rather than go through insurance though. I haven't got his insurance details (yet)

The damage does not look too bad. I would prefer to have a brand new door than a repair job.

I have been quoted the following from an Independent Renault Specialist:
Labour: Spray new door due to damage, remove old door and fit new door and trims. Paint & Materials
£500
Parts:
Nearside front door.......... £262.59 (part no 7751477647)
Door Clip Kit.................... £24.04 (7711423600)
Door Trim........................ £39.46 (7701068625)
Door Post Sticker............. £23.02 (8200637769)
£349.11

Plus VAT: £169.82

Total: £1018.93

I am taking it too Sutton Park Dealership in the morning for further quotes and also to Automotion Accident Repair Centre, both in Coventry.

I doubt he will want to pay me a grand in cash. The accident was at low speed <5mph and the damage is just a large dent and the paint has come off on the door iteself. No damage to the wing mirror or the lower side below the door at all.

Do you have his reg?

I'd report it to your insurance company just incase he don't pay up and says it was him I've had it before took 6 months to get my old GT fixed!

From recent experience I'd always go though the insurance companies... It's amazing how quickly people change when it comes to dipping into their pockets.

agreed - don't bother with people that want to go outside of the insurance, waste of time and effort.

You leave yourself open to a minefield of fake "ow my neck hurts - the Twingo was driving dangerously rubbish (even though you were stationary)

Phone your insurance company and report that you have been hit - This way you are covered legally.

Just go through insurance as it could get messy without cash in hand is not the way out here

Sucks mate.

Is there really no damage on the sill? If not then that's at least a lucky bonus. I agree with the others, if it was just a small scuff/scratch etc I can imagine someone else happily paying up - though at this extent you might be safer with the insurance companies involved.
