To begin i want a winter set of rims but i want to put 16 inch rims under my twingo (cup pack), the thing is i need to know how wide may the rim go and what ET-value i need for a 16 inch rim?

This is wall of text beneath here  its what happened to me today when i went to a renault dealer to ask sort off the same question if you can answer the above question is good enough if you want to know why i asked the above question read the rest

Ok so i want to my Renault dealer today and i wanted to know what the ET value is of my CUP rims under my twingo , first he didnt know he had to look it up and he said it was 55 (on the inside of the rim), he found it a bit big but then i asked the 2nd dealer i went to and he said the same.

So asked them both i want to put preferable 16inch 6.5 or 6.0 wide rims under my car for a winter set is this possible ?

Dealership guy #1
Yes if you take 16 inch with 6.0 or 6.5 wide rims you shouldnt hit your suspension arms (<- correct term ?) but you will need bigger wheels with more rubber on it and not low profile , i said ok reasonable explanation

Dealership guy #2
It is not possible to put 16 inch wheels under it at all only 17 inch wheels cause you have the CUP pack and your brake discs are to big  , he compared it to the Megane RS if you take the one with the 19 inch rims you cannot put 18 inch rims under it at all (i found this a weird comparison but whatever >_>) so as he meant that if i put a 16 inch under it no matter what , it would hit my suspension arms cause of the cup pack  ?

thanks for reading, hope you guys/girls can help me ;)

If you have the standard discs and calipers, Guy 2 is talking rubbish. Theres enough room to drop down to 15" rims as 7x15 et43 are fitted to my car.

16" are the standard size for the non cup 133 but I'm not sure of the width or offset

Hi i have 7x16 Et 42 but ET 38 will also fit tyres are 195/45/16 regards Thomas

ow so you have actually no problem at all ( even under heavy cornering "driving sporty")? with the 7X16 ET 42 tires 195/45/16 but i was wondering if i put 195/50/16 under it would i have a problem steering ?

Guy number 2 is a ******* mongoloid....

The discs on the Cup are no bigger than the non Cup.

My 15s are 40 offset and fit nicely :)

Using 16" with 195/45/16 tires on it, ET 35, fits perfectly.
For the track, I have 15" ET 35 also, brakes fit, as well as everything else, so don't worry you have space :)

i asked at renault dilership and they said its ET35 for 16" ..

Stating offset without rim width is useless - the two only make sense as a pair (well.. to a certain degree :p).

15" et 35, 50 profile of tyre will fit, i had 195/55 r15 for one day (winter tyre) i almost crashed, on little harder cornering right tyre rubbed some where, i think on bottom plate of spring and wheel almost blocked, too fat tyre :D

Your 55 profile tyre probably rubbed against the bodywork, not the suspension. Even with ET43 there is lots of clearance between the shoulder of the tyre and the spring platform. The tyre position doesn't move relative to the platform at it pivots about it as one unit. With ET35 (assuming a 7" rim also) you will have 8mm more clearance but reduced clearance between the outside shoulder and the wheel arch/liner.

Plenty of clearance here

with the wheel turned to full lock, theres still clearance between outside shoulder and arch liner

The above were taken with the suspension compressed about 25mm which would probably simulate a reasonably hard cornerer

I have hesitate but finally not mount some ultraleggera 7x16 ET37 for snow tyres ...
Now I want to change the summer wheels , because I don't like the cup/gordini look
and and want some light wheels (already put ultraleggera on my clio 182 cup and alleggerita on my C2 VTS)

I want to put some 7x17 with offset ET45, will it fit ?
does anybody test it ?

Normally it's ET55 but with ET45 will the tyres touch on the arch ?
:geek:

205/40/17 will probably be close to rubbing, like my 15's with 195/55/15 tyres (195/55/15 and 205/40/17 are almost the same size tyre). The rear may be close to rubbing with passengers in the back but I haven't noticed any

With 195/40/17, there should be no issues...

Not sure tbh. All I know is that the car is completely standard, apart from the different tyres.

So thats an offset off ET55 for the standard cup alloy, which we know does take a 205/40/17 without any problem.

As the offset reduces and the wheel moves outboard, the shoulder of the tyre gets closer to the inner arch when the wheel is turned as it is making a wider arc.

Hence why I'm uncertain with 205's and ET45... It will be close but probably ok :?
