Hi guys. Was just wondering what everyone's revs are for 60, 70 and a cheeky 80. In 5th of course. Thanks.

Will be the same as yours, as they're geared the same, and not dependant on the engine

Vehicle speeds (in mph) at 1000 rpm:

1st - 4.9
2nd - 8.2
3rd - 11.5
4th - 14.75
5th - 18.5

I meant rpm when doing 70. As I don't know whether my car is over revving. I'm doing around 3700 rpm at 70. In 5th.

And the information I gave you answered that.

70 mph X 1000rpm / 18.5mph in 5th = 3,783 rpm

Your car is fine.

Longer 5th gear from Megane II 1.5 dci or any from Clio 4 helps substantially. I did this to mine and it now sits 500rpm lower than it would normally. At first I thought the drop would be massive, but it just isn't. At 30mph you are comfortly in 5th at 1400-1500rpm :)

Straight from Renault, codes are: 8200607981 and 8200611301

They cost 37€ each (Slovenia) and you need both. Fit like a glove, no problems so far

With little torque available I suspect you'll be tired of changing down all the time to make any progress on the motorway. I would just buy another car if I were that bothered (I did). It's going to be noisy regardless

Is it worth getting a longer 4th as well? Also toying with the idea of putting a 6 speed in, what do you reckon?

Paritally what Maggi said, changing 4th would be hard and costly, putting in 6. speed would cost too much - would be cool though, but for that money you can almost get a used Clio. I changed to longer 5th because it cost me around 90£ with work and it does save me some fuel and noise. For that money I think it's well worth it. Mind you, I rarely give it any beans in the 5th and never speed on highways so 5th gear is purely for cruising and it just become a tiny bit more economical. I had my car mapped as well so max. torque comes in around 3400 rather than 4400. I did my maths and it works quite well. Hope all this helps you decide ;) Changing down not to be embarrassed by a random 2.0 diesel family hauler is unavoidable in N/A Renaults ;)

Mine's running at 2890 RPM at 70mph in 5th - hence the 56 mpg, you all need to get a 1.2 16V N/A
